The Ghent Playhouse presents the regional premier of Mothers and Sons – a timely and touching contemporary play about change, reconciliation and becoming a family.
Mothers and Sons’ opens on Friday, March 17 and runs through Sunday, April 2 with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m.

A Dallas matriarch pays an unexpected visit to her late son’s former partner, who is now married to another man and raising a young son. Forced to consider the life her son may have had, the woman must now come to terms with her own life choices and how society has changed around her.
Wendy Power Spielmann of Kinderhook takes on the role of Katherine Gerard, the 70 year old widow, who after twenty years, suddenly decides to pay a visit to the Upper West Side apartment of her late son’s former partner, Cal Porter. Paul Murphy of Troy portrays Cal in the production, with Dylan Widjiono of Stockport as Will Ogden, Cal’s husband. Rounding out the cast is newcomer, 9 year old Ely Loskowitz of Valatie, as the couple’s young son, Bud.
Written by award-winning playwright of Love! Valor! Compassion!, Terrence McNally, Mothers and Sonswas a 2014 Tony Award Nominee for Best New Play. The Ghent Playhouse production is directed by Cathy Lee-Visscher, who also designing the set. Matt Sikora is the Stage Manager. Costume Design is by Joann Maurer and Lighting Design by Isabelle Filkins.
