The Ghent Playhouse, located just off rt 66 in Ghent, NY, is one of 5 community theatres in New York State nominated for the NY Theatre Guide’s “Best Community Theatre Award”. They are competing against other NY theatres located in Syracuse, Irvington, Saratoga Springs and Olean for the top honor.
Now in their 41st season, The Columbia Civic Players found a home at the former Ghent Town hall in 1989 and they have been a local fixture ever since, presenting five quality shows during each season which runs from October to June. The award-winning play, “The Weir,” by playwright Conor McPherson, will mark its regional premier when it opens at the Ghent Playhouse on January 22.
