Dear Friends of the Ghent Playhouse,
I hope this message finds you safe at home and in good health and good spirits.
As Artistic Director, I am always thrilled to announce the shows I have chosen each theatre season, and 2019-2020 was especially exciting, marking the Ghent Playhouse as the first regional community theater to present the award-winning musical, Fun Home. As we began last season, we never imagined that it would end so abruptly in March, due to a world-wide pandemic. For 46 years it has been our pleasure to offer our community exposure to professional-level theatre productions at an affordable price. It is also our responsibility to continue to do so.
A return to “normal” is a slow, ongoing process for New York State, but at this point, we plan to return in January 2021, with a short, three-show season, that will begin with our annual panto, followed by Fun Home and Last Train to Nibroc.
We look forward to re-opening our doors and once again seeing many familiar faces back in the seats of our treasured theatre. We hope one of them will be yours. Til then, stay safe.
